Update from the Peytons

While the Peyton family expected to move and have new adventures this summer, we had no idea what God had in store for us!  Our home in Wenatchee was caught in the Sleepy Hollow Fire and burned completely two days after we moved in.  We have moved four times this summer, but are now settled in a lovely rental home about a mile from The River Academy where Elise attends high school and Anna serves part-time as the Elementary Dean.  While nothing could ever replace our ECS family, it is an amazing blessing to find a school here with the same heart for Christ and for educating the next generation. We love that three other former ECS families are also part of The River Academy.

We expect it will take about a year and a half to rebuild our home.  In the meantime, Jeremy loves riding his bike everywhere he needs to go and working with Living Hope and Serve Wenatchee Valley in addition to promoting his Clearly Qualified home loan software. Elise and Asher are enjoying their first seasons playing soccer, and Isaac is wild about WyldLife (YoungLife for middle school). In between driving to soccer practices Anna can often be found learning about city building codes or searching the world wide web for new home ideas that no-one could ever afford to actually build.

Thank you for your prayers for each of us, and for the multitude of families impacted by fires this summer. We have seen God use our house burning as a opportunity to have conversations about why our security and joy are not about what we own or where we live. There has been an amazing response in the community as neighbors are helping one another, holding prayer meetings and connecting in new ways.  Please continue to pray for God to work in and through this situation to reveal himself more fully.
