ABOUT ELLENSBURG CHRISTIAN

The certified staff at Ellensburg Christian School teaches students from a Biblical worldview that supports not only intellectual, emotional, and physical growth, but also nurtures the spiritual development of each child.

Did you know that ECS:

 Students represent 18 Christian congregations and 12 distinct ethnic groups

 Has 97 students this year, a dozen of whom were born in nations other than the US

 Has 14 students who speak English as a second language

 Has over 450 alumni

 Was founded in 1991

 Was rated a "10 out of 10" by 104 parents and students last spring, meaning that they were 100% satisfied

 Employs state-licensed teachers, with a combined average of 20 years of classroom experience each

 Provides excellent educational quality: students who have attended Ellensburg Christian School for a full year or longer generally test two or more years above grade level

Did you know that at ECS:

 Class sizes average 10 students

 Each grade has an independent classroom and full-time teacher

 Specialists teach vocal and instrumental music as well as physical education courses

 Classes are offered in all core disciplines: reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies

 Specialty instruction in art, Latin, Spanish, keyboarding, yearbook, home economics, and other enrichment areas are regularly scheduled

 Students frequently participate in community service activities

 Most of our students are from young families living on limited incomes

 One in four ECS students receive need-based assistance

 The school receives no state or federal funding

 Our staff receive no benefits and earn 37-49% of the wages paid to their public school

peers. Other Christian schools pay teachers an average of one-third more than ECS.
